Standard lens diameter has been optimized at 15.0 mm which will cover > 80% of all cases. If you do not observe good limbal coverage, provide and check corneal diameter (HVID) for lens refinement.

CONFIRM | OBSERVATION | ANSWER / REFINEMENT |
---|---|---|
Limbal Coverage | Fluorescein saline covers the entire cornea and clears the limbus | If no, take note and if possible include Smart Phone picture for lens refinement |
Center Clearance | Approximately 1:1 ratio between lens thickness (center thickness) and Thickness of fluorescein reservoir (clearance) at insertion | In no, take note and if possible, include Smart Phone picture for lens refinement |
Conjunctival Alignment | Good landing and even distribution of lens on conjunctiva. Good conjunctival blood flow underneath the lens | If no, take location note and if possible, include Smart Phone picture for lens refinement |
Over-Refraction | Visual acuity is within one line of best corrected vision with eye glasses | If no, perform over-refraction and document appropriate parameters |
1. Evaluate Coverage
EasyFit Lifestyle Contacts are digitally designed to fully cover the sensitive area of the limbus. Coverage over the limbus is essential, however, with minimal clearance to allow oxygen transmission to the area. Use wide beam, colbolt blue light to evaluate the presence of flouresciene. Under white light optic section check for clearance. There should be no touch at the limbus.
** A lack of staining at the limbus indicates that there is adequate clearance and no change is necessary.
2. Evaluate Apical Clearance
3. Evaluate Conjunctival Alignment
Look at conjunctival alignment. Be sure there is no edge stand-off, impingement or peripheral seal off.
Ideal edge should not impinge or lift excessively
EasyFit Lifestyle Contact Lenses will recess on average 100 microns during a full day of wear. About 50% of the settling will occur with in the first 30 minutes of application. Consideration should be given to wearing time when evaluating the clearance.
Measure with optic section using white light at a 40 degree angle. Anterior segment OCT can also give you a more accurate reading of the fluid layer thickness.
This lens is designed to be as comfortable as a soft lens after adaptation. At the initial dispense there can be some lens awareness present. This is most common in new contact lens patients. True discomfort is a sign of an improperly fitting lens. EasyFit Lifestyle Contacts are made to order from data recieved. The lenses are digitally designed based on K readings, cornea diameter and RX and therefore accurate measurements in all categories for all patients is a must. Every precaution should be made to ensure the readings are accurate when submitted for order.
If the patient is not comfortable after 30 minutes of wear time, the primary cause of discomfort is edge stand off.
